Manchester is a city and metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, with a population of approx 500,000. It's officially the UK's 3rd largest city, after London and Birmingham but often referred to as the "Capital of the North" and recently voted the 'Second happiest place in the UK'. Many of the people living in the city are qualified young professionals, with a high disposable income and love to party at the weekend!

Manchester travel
Getting to and from Manchester is painless, with one of the UK's busiest airports (MAN), 4 train stations and a tram (Metro) network reaching from the city centre out to the surrounding areas. The city is located within the M60 ring road, which is linked to the M62 (Leeds/Liverpool), the M61 (Bolton/Preston) and the M6.

Manchester city centre and its surrounding area host a huge number of attractions. Whatever your interests or age, Manchester will have loads of places to see and things to do. In Manchester city centre itself there are several parks and lots of green space in the city, largest of these is Heaton Park in the North and Platt Fields in the south of the city – although Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre is a great place to grab a quick sandwich and sit in the sun and watch Mancunians hurry past.

Chinatown just off Princess street serves up some of the best Chinese, Thai or dim sum this side of China with a visit to teppanyaki highly recommended for some showtime dining! Just outside of Manchester you is a small district called Rusholme, known by the locals as the curry mile, with it’s neon lights shining brighter than Blackpool it has the highest concentration of Asian food in Great Britain.
