Yoji Interview Ahead of Kiddstock 2008!

As special guest at Kiddstock, it seems Yoji has a major part to play in this year's instalment of Hard Dance's only dedicated festival:

"Having Yoji headlining the bill is a huge honour for me as we have worked together on projects, albums and tours in the past and have been friends for many years. He is a living enigma of the harder scene and the way he re-directs his musical styles so effortlessly is an inspiration to me. He is always way ahead of the pack and his latest studio work is out of this world so I know his set is going to smash the Ground Zero arena to smithereens!" - Alex Kidd

When asked, the man himself had kind words a plenty:

"I think because Alex understands well how my music has been evolved and directed, he requested me to play at Kiddstock festival this year as a headliner. The lineup is very interesting so I'm sure the event will be a great gig. Much appreciated!"

Hellhouse Recordings released its first track of 2008 back in February, Techy Techy. The track promised to illustrate a definitive example of your sound. Yoji, how do feel the track has been received?

"I feel very happy about the response. The response to the tracks released before Techy Techy was mostly from the people of a very limited genre, but as for Techy Techy, I could receive the response from various people beyond the barrier of genre. I think the release was very meaningful."

Hellhouse has developed quite a name for itself over the past five years or so. With releases from numerous artists such as Remocon and IK as well as acting as a stage from which to launch his own productions.

Yoji, how do you feel the label is developing and what plans do you have for its future?

"Thank to you all, Hellhouse has become a very famous label.Compared with other labels, Hellhouse has only released a few, but each release aroused some criticism. That's why Hellhouse became famous, hahaha!I have insisted we release only the tracks with freshness and high quality, and for the future. I will keep the faith. Now I am under production of several new tracks. I want to release them as soon as possible."

After the name Yoji Biomehanika becoming so famous throughout the dance music industry, the decision was made back earlier this year to drop the surname. Yoji's myspace blog claims that after unsuspectingly going to sleep one night in January, Yoji then woke the following morning to discover his surname had indeed vanished! Following rumours of the name being stolen, kidnapped and just being too damn difficult to pronounce, we decided to ask the man himself, to which he answered simply:

"Because I used it too much, I washed and hanged "Biomehanika" in the sun!"
