Re: uber...constructive ideas for future

It's a difficult one to say what the vibe is you cant just book one strict style or type of music in a small city like Carlisle so we book who we like and who we think will play well.

As for Annie Mac I think I'd put her on but maybe do a Friday and aim more for students. I think what we have comming up next year is good some old fav's and some new blood along with the occasional big hitter.

Re: uber...constructive ideas for future

Ok. I don't have a massive experience of UBER, having only attended two of them. However. Annie Mac would do well for you on the basis that her name is Annie Mac and she's on Radio One. You will probably get a few people down for that. You will then get a set of fidget house, shuffle, drum and bass and pop music, that the serious house heads will hate and the i'm just here for Annie Mac crowd will realise that they have to get back to Austin Friars and that even though they think they are the cast of skins, actually don't have permission from their mum to be out after 12.

Kissy Sell Out plays own productions about adventures on Ketamine, jumps around lots, plays fidget driving techno through filters and generally would probably go down a lot better on a tuesday night than on a Saturday.

Don't get me wrong, i like both these artists, Kissy Sell Out is high on my agenda, I just think you would be stupid to put any of them on at UBER. The style they play and vibe they create is nothing like Fancilillu, Yousef, Tong, Terry, Woolford or any of the other artists that play consistently good music in a style that is consistent to the suiting the club, and UBER. If you want to see Kissy, go to the WHP or similar. In fact he's playing at Sankeys in December, we'll be down for that.

We made that mistake with MR C / Tim Sheridan at Wickerman. Something in my mind that I thought would be ultimately cool turned into something that wasnt what we were really about and that was reflected on the night, where we could of done something a lot better for a lot cheaper.

There's nothing wrong with Austin Friars, it just generates a lot of skins rejects.

Re: uber...constructive ideas for future

quick question, I've been trying to record some mixes onto my laptop. I've got a phono (from the mixer rec out) to the laptop (mic in jack) and everytime I try to record a mix it distorts. I've tried to set input levels and even downloaded Audacity to record with but the quality is shit. I can't afford a usb interface at the mo and so I was wondering how to record a good sounding mix with my hardware?

I think one if the problems is the built in small mic on the laptop which I've tried covering over but to no avail. Is there anyway I can dissable it but keep my jack'in! (joke) plug connected?

all help is good help. Any shit help can fuck off,.

Re: uber...constructive ideas for future

You'll never get a good stereo input through a Mic in. You need to use your line in, if you have one, which gives a much better balanced level.

I got a USB interface thing that retails about £30 and it's fucking awesome.

Re: uber...constructive ideas for future

where is my line in? it's a lap top. Might have to buy a bigger cable and use my pc on the other side of the room. I can't afford a usb thing at the mo. Got pens to buy! £16 a fucking pen
